Fabian Torres-Ardila


Torres-Ardila, Ph.D., Fabian brings extensive experience to teacher preparation especially in providing authentic learning experiences to in-service and pre-service teachers of mathematics by engendering teacher expertise in their own mathematical self-image, and how to create a classroom environment that leads to more equitable practices where all students have the opportunity to contribute towards mathematical understanding and meaning creation. He is currently responsible for coordinating program series for the graduate certificate on the “Teaching of Mathematics to English Language Learners (ELLs)”. This includes assisting in the development and revision of coursework to meet the mathematics and linguistic needs of ELLs, teaching newly developed courses on math content and pedagogy, recruiting of K-12 teachers into our program, and implementing program services that ensure high quality instruction for K-12 mathematics and ELL teachers.
